Improving the quality of life for people with prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is by far the most common cancer among men that is reported to Australian cancer registries.
Although the majority of these cases are treated successfully, the side effects of the treatment can have profound emotional and physical impact.
A new initiative
Surviving cancer is important, but so is the quality of life and functional status of survivors.
A research project supported by Movember in partnership with SAHMRI, the University of South Australia and Monash University, seeks to measure and monitor the quality of life burdens associated with prostate cancer.
It aims to better understand these survivors’ needs post-treatment and importantly, to direct them to the help, services and resources that are available to improve their wellbeing, as well as survival.
