KEY STATISTICS
- In 2017, 16.5% of people aged 15 years and over and 14.3% of young people aged 15-29 years smoked.
- The majority of South Australian smokers have tried to quit previously (74.9%); 35.9% have tried to quit in the past year and 55.3% intend to try to quit in the next six months.
- Smoking rates among school children at are an all-time low with 3% of secondary students aged 12-17 years smoking in the past week.
