KEY STATISTICS
- Smoking rates are the lowest ever recorded in South Australia with 14.9% of adults aged 15 years and over and 12.3% of young people aged 15-29 smoking in 2016
- Most South Australian smokers want to quit with 74.1% making a previous quit attempt, 34.1% having tried in the past year and 53.9% wanting to in the next six months
- Smoking rates among school children are also at an all-time low with 3% of secondary students aged 12-17 years smoking in the past week
