Led by Professor Chris Proud and Professor Derek Chew, the Lifelong Health Theme aims to deliver a discovery to impact approach to the greatest health challenges in chronic disease and ageing, across the lifespan.

Our research is conducted under the following programs:

HEART AND VASCULAR HEALTH

The Heart and Vascular Health Research program aims to advance the ability to prevent, detect and treat cardiovascular disease, with a committed focus on rapid translation of discovery into practice and health impact. The Heart and Vascular Health Program is comprised of the following research groups:

DIABETES, NUTRITION AND GUT HEALTH

The Diabetes, Nutrition and Gut Health Research Program aims to deliver quality research and research education which identifies novel and innovative targets, pharmacological therapies and dietary strategies to improve metabolic health for all. The Diabetes, Nutrition and Gut Health Program is comprised of the following research groups:

HOPWOOD CENTRE FOR NEUROBIOLOGY

The Hopwood Centre for Neurobiology aims to use integrated lifestyle (nutritional) interventions, novel pharmaceuticals and stem cell-based regenerative medicine approaches to identify the mechanisms that underlie major neurological disorders and devise novel therapeutic approaches to tackling them. The Hopwood Centre for Neurobiology is comprised of the following research groups:

MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Research Program conduct research across the whole mental health spectrum, with a bio-psycho-social lens, targeting both mental illness and wellbeing, to explore the relationship between mental health and wider health risk, prevention of mental illness and public health promotion behaviours.

The vision for the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre is to build wellbeing at scale, by translating the science of psychological health and wellbeing into systematic real-world practice for individuals, families, communities and societies.
