Is there a link between testosterone and diabetes?
Men with low testosterone are one of the highest risks groups for developing type 2 diabetes.
Professor Gary Wittert and his team are running a study called T4DM. The ultimate goal of this study is to prevent the onset of diabetes. The focus of this study are men who do not yet have diabetes but are at risk of developing it.
Risk factors for diabetes
The most common risk factors for type 2 diabetes include:
- your age
- having a family history of diabetes
- being overweight
- not exercising regularly
- having high cholesterol and/or high blood pressure
Volunteer for this study
If you are a man aged between 50 and 74 you may be eligible to join this study.
People in the community who take part in studies like this are helping researchers gain valuable insight into how diseases like type 2 diabetes develop. With a better understanding of how and why diabetes develops, researchers can look at how we can intervene and prevent this from happening.
