Our Wellbeing and Resilience Centre
Building a State of Wellbeing
The vision of our Wellbeing and Resilience Centre is to build South Australia into the State of Wellbeing. Led by Director Gabrielle Kelly, the Centre is focused on measuring wellbeing and building resilience on a society-wide scale.
Based on the work done by Professor Martin Seligman in the field of Positive Psychology, the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre has built its work around the PERMA+ model.
PERMA+
Professor Seligman's PERMA model involves:
- positive emotion
- engagement
- relationships
- meaning
- accomplishment
The '+' aspect of PERMA+ acknowledges that additional elements contribute to our wellbeing:
- optimism
- physical activity
- nutrition
- sleep
Our Wellbeing and Resilience Centre team work with young adults from disadvantaged backgrouds, the corrections system, schools, community groups, and commercial organisations who are committed to measuring and developing resilience.
The team at the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre are determined to improve the mental health of our entire community.
