Aboriginal Health Equity

Led by Associate Professor James Ward, our Infection and Immunity team have created the HIV and A&TSI Communities in 2016 booklet. It's a resource for the broader community, and has been published in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander HIV Awareness Week (ATSIHAW).

The booklet provides:

  • an overview of statistical disparities in HIV in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population
  • recommendations and progress - where to from here in 2017
  • program of events for ATSIHAW 2016
  • profiles of ATSIHAW ambassadors

Funding for this booklet was provided by the Commonwealth Department of Health.

SAHMRI is located on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people.

The SAHMRI community acknowledges and pays respect to the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide region. We also acknowledge the deep feelings of attachment and the relationship of the Kaurna people to their country. We pay our respects to the Kaurna peoples' ancestors and the living Kaurna people today.
